How about posting grex's new configuration?
|
Sep 22 20:26 UTC 2005 |
Since the web tour is badly out of date I think this would be a good
place to post info on grex's new hardware and software configuration.
Unless you are scared to do so....like mnetters.

There is a hardware description some where, but I don't feel like tracking
it down right now.

I'd think it would be somewhere in the old garage conference (joinable
as "garage1"), but a quick browse didn't turn up a hardware description.
But the "dmesg" command gives quite a bit of info, for example:
AMD Athlon CPU, 2.09 GHz
1.5gb real memory
One 35gb and two 17gb SCSI disks
One IDE disk, not sure of size
(etc.)
Then of course "df" gives you the filesystem configuration, "ifconfig"
the network interfaces. There are probably other commands that give you
configuration info that I'm not thinking of at the moment.
On the software side, we're running OpenBSD 3.5.

remmer's has the forbearance of a saint. To think that....he would
help ME of all people. That's the command I was looking for(dmesg). I
did a "listcommand" but I must have overlooked it.
hats off to remmer's

M-netters aren't "scared" [sic] to write about their hardware.

For the record
dmesg returns with "command not found"

It's not in your path. It's in /sbin. You can run it via, e.g., /sbin/dmesg.

Oh, and if you want a blow-by-blow description of Grex's software
configuration and how to build it, see /grex/grexdoc .

re#8 That doc doesn't seem to be accessable now. Is that do to the
recent upgrades perhaps?

It's accessible again. Yes, its temporary absence was probably due to
the upgrade.
