A Reservation about Iconization Mark Unseen   Jan 28 08:30 UTC 1993

How would you like it if your rich complexity
Were reduced to a square the size of a Wheat Thin?
It is certainly not a perplexity
That I would care to find myself in.

I agree. Though Thoreau said, "Simplify, simplify,"
I wouldn't want Lauren's brown tresses uncurled,
Nor attempt Aaaron's cheeks to unrose and undimplify
For all the Wheat Thins in the world.

But what if you were offered M&M's instead of wheat thins?
Beautiful red, white, and blue 4th of July M&M that came with
sparklers in every bag?? What then??? Might you be tempted????

I've never seen a white M&M.

If you light the sparkler, you can see the white M&M's after dark on
the 4th of July. Do not confuse this with lighting the Jack o' Lantern
that comes in a (giant economy size) package of Halloween M&M's - they're
orange and black, and the former may look white by the Jack o' Lantern's
light.

Pinstripe M&M's too.
Spotted M&M's.
Floral M&M's.
What else? Come now, we can be creative.

No, what the world *really* needs is W&Ws. Lots and lots of W&Ws.

Not as much as when M&Ms go down the right way.
