In the Night Forest Mark Unseen   Jul 10 02:48 UTC 1997

Deep in the night forest, a ghost stood by the lake,
tending its shrine. Slowly, majestically, in unison
did the trees by the shore bend themselves to the
water, the leaves of their crowns shattering the
        moon into myriad fragments.

The trees straightened, and the night wind moaned in
the midst of their leaves, purloining their secrets.
Nearby lay the moonbeams in blissful, ignorant
        slumber.

I watched the poison-shrouded star above; all the
while the music of the lake approached over the sands
        of the beach, engulfing me.

Carried by the singing voices of the lake, I drifted
over the waters, until the waters parted, and I was
lowered to the sweet sands below.

No, the ghost is just one of the voices' previous victims being put to work.
