Hymn to a Sad God
Oh Lord, in folly born.
Child of holly.

Guide us down the rightous track;
Lose yourself on your way back.

Warm us through the winter, please;
You yourself can damn well freeze.

Sate our hunger, quench our thirst;
Feed yourself, but feed us first.

Child of holly.
Child of thorn.
(I wrote this about five years ago, and was immediately struck by the
worst chain of bad luck in my life. I've never been able to work up
the nerve to complete it. I apologize for not warning you before you
read it.)
