What creature, cursed sea anemone,
That must needs be my mortal enemy?
N'er found in Ipswich, nor Hamtramck,
Yet instills in me such utter panic
That neither friends, nor sight of home
Can stave off fear of fiend of foam?
The beast, washed up upon the shore,
Is that which I the most abhor.

What creature, dreaded human being,
Whose judgment shall be my undoing?
Ne'r found in Erie or Atlantic,
Yet jumps to such an utter panic
That friends and home cannot quite quell
The fear of me 'tho all is well.
I pray this human at the shore
Learns to accept me evermore.
