a shell acount lets you log in to a system. once your logged in your either
a normal user or a superuser (not really but no need for detail) superuser
kicks ass, and normal accounts can like... tpye and stuff.[D

In short, root (the superuser) has full access and privilege to all
principles and capabilities of the system. A regular user is one
principle amongst many, and only has access and privilege as delegated.

A shell is a mechanism by which a user interacts with the system.
