Hi I would like to start a comic book conference with robh so I was told to
enter an to enter an item about it in here. We will basically talk about
comics from old to new. 2099's, the age of Apocalypse, X-men and anything
else.

I thought that was what the fantasy conf was for?

Oh oh. I didn't know we *had* a fantasy conference.
I'm definately interested in a place to talk about comics
however, once I find a little more time for recreational Grexing.
Lando, why don't you look in the fantasy conference and see if
that might work out? There are several reasons to try the fantasy
conference, becuase in having too many "speciality" conferences
we run the risk of diluting things to the point that none of them
has enough "critical mass" to really go. You can advertise the
fantasy cf just as well as a comic conference, and you have the
possible advantage of the people in fantasy already being a
source of participants.

BZZT!
any *true* discussion of comics should be placed in the Books
conference, not the Fantasy conference.

Well, technically they're magazines, not books. Check out
the errata at the bottom of the splash page, or the inside
front cover, of any comic book. It's the same legally-required
information as a magazine.

at any rate, either the fantasy conf. or the books conf. will already have
a readership, which is better than starting from scratch. You might also be
able to become another fairwitness of the conf (if the existing one(s) agree).
It could be set up so that "comics" points to the conf. used.

I can support that idea (since I am one of the co-fw's of books.)

you could always create a "sub-conference" using retired items. :)

well fantasy isn't really for comics. In that conference we talk about f
fantasy books, games, all kinds of stuff and I think we linked with the rpg
conference though i am not sure. At any rate comics and fantasy don't go tgo
together.

Lando, if you still want to create a comics conference, just ask here for it
to be created...the normal procedure is, it gets discussed for a bit, and if
the proposer still wants it, it gets created. If you decide to try and use
the books or fantasy cf's for comics discussion, perhaps you could get the
fw's to change their conference descriptions (displayed in the "help confs"
list) to include comics. Though I think a separate conference sounds like
a good idea...if I were into comics, I doubt I'd think to check books/fantasy.

Lando has already requested the comics conf. via mail, and I'm going to do
it in a couple days (I'm really waiting for more info about graphics, etc.)

I don't think we have any graphics for the conference, scott,
so don't let that delay you.

the conference is there. it's possible that there weren't any
aliases assigned to it, or something simple like that. I doubt
it's a conspiracy, but let me know if it is, and I'll link to
melvin, so we can uncover the truth! >8)

The aliases got trashed, as an indirect result of the disk bug. :(
I've already fixed it, so try again and it should work (it did for me).
