Valerie's suggestion is valid, but you must be able to attend meetings
once a month in Ann Arbor, MI. We haven't found a way around that
requirement, unfortunately.

If TS is willing to give the whole shebang another shot, I'll nominate
him again at the appropriate time.

If I could come up with the $60 membership fee, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Unfortunatly I am poor, and find that not to be an option.
But I do stand ready to volunteer if needed.

Carson, why don't *you* run? If you're willing, I'd nominate you when
the time comes.

re #4:

1) I'm no longer a member, and haven't been for close to half a year.
2) I don't have an interest in becoming a paying member in the near future.
I'm not personally thrilled with the direction that Grex is headed in,
nor with where Grex is now, and I have no wish to contribute financially
   to such a cause.
3) For the next four years, I will be attending a university in another
state. This effectively precludes me from attending meetings on a regular
basis. It's similar to the problem that caused mju to resign from the
   board way back when.

Thanks for the consideration, but I don't see myself running for the Board
anytime in the near future.

Carson, would you post somewhere why you are "not personally thrilled with
the direction that Grex is headed in"?

janc would make an excellent addition to your board based on all I have
read on Grex for the past several months. Go for it.

I ma going up to school in ann arbor this fall, and even though
I am not a computer genius nor as expreienced with the system as many
others are, I want to try to be of some help of to the staff in some
way while i am up there. What kinds of things are avialable?>

If you know a fair amount about Unix and the other subtleties
of Grex, you should consider becoming a helper. Run the Unix command

        mesg -h y

and people who use the "write help" command will be connected to
you, giving you the chance to help users in need.

Excuse me, but if carson has said all he feels like saying,
then perhaps you might not want to press him on it.
After all, don't ask a question, if you know you won't like
the answer, or that you aren't going to want to deal with it. This
seems to be a forgotten rule these days..

response 17 of 198: Mark Unseen   Jul 29 19:52 UTC 1995

Er...I've never heard an answer I don't like. I may disagree with an
answer, but the answer still reflects someone's perception, and that's
what I want to know.

re #16: sorry, sidhe, but I don't complain and run.

popcorn, I'm working on that item you asked me to write. ;)

Thanks, Carson. I have some idea of *some* of the kinds of things you're
likely to say, but I'm interested in hearing it in some kind of organized
way. I'm sure there are plenty of others in the same boat.

I can't imagine what the color of a person's skin has to do with
whether they are diverse or not. I guess I've got something to add
to my item. :(

This is why Popcorn MUST run for president again next time...or
else we'll have an all male board, and I know Grex believes in affirmative
action hehe
