ryan1's account
|
Jun 3 02:25 UTC 1995 |
*****************************************************************************
O.K. This is really Ryan Antkowiak (more commonly knows an
ryan1@cyberspace.og) I have entered this item to ask for my account back. I
realize I have not behaved appropreatly all of the time on grex. I miss
everyone on grex, (almost everyone.)
I would like to made a few points:
***I did not delete any of blob's files, i only provided avi access to blob's
account. I had no idea of avi's intentions.
***I miss grex a lot.
***I won't mess with anyone on grex, (or anyone that has an account on grex)
except to defend myself.
***I promise to to put ansi codes in the pwho anymore that messed up people's
terminal settings. [oopse, i meant to say i promise NOT to]
***I promise that steve wont' get anymore annoying email message of complaints
about me unless the user was being really petty, and complaining about nothing.
***I am running aout of things to say.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
like, do people want me back? do you think i should get my account back? Cuz i
really want it back..
like, please say something...

I'd like to see you back if you can stick to your word. First,
though, I'd like to know what "defend" yourself means in your
third point.

I think you'll find that if you treat people with respect, they
return the favor.

Ryan rocks my world too. And even though he likes Boyz ][ Men I'd like
to see him back here sometime in the future. Has he not done what he
was supposed to do? Perhaps we needa big contreversy over Ryan
just like over avi. or not.
Ryan did what he did and done what he didn't so there.
You rock my world Ryan

I would like to see ryan1 back in the near, very near future. Ok so he did one
thing wrong, what's he supposed to do to fix it? he did what he did and I'm
sure that if he could go back in time he'd make sure he didn't do it but he
can't.
What I'm trying to say is that he did what he did and it's done, no one was
hurt or killed no one had emotional scares, everyone's fine but him, I say give
him a secound chance

Ryan is cool too. You have to give him his account back.
I'll miss him. Everybody screws up sometimes. I was never kicked off for my
complaints. (Granted, they weren't as harsh, but still)

As harsh? Well for one thing, I DID NOT DELETE ANY OF BLOB'S FILES.
I only did one thing, and that was make a small modification to one
of blob's files.

I honestly see little that ryan1 DID, here. He and avi both agree
that ryan1 had no idea what avi would be up to, and merely provided access
to an account that someone else was stupid enough to fix ryan up with
access to.
I move the charges before ryan1 be dismissed.

I don't think it is irrelevant in the slightest. It is poking fun at Ryan's
protestations. Ryan protests that he did nothing, but what he did was
to provide Avi with a weapon to use against another user. In fact Ryan
should not have had access to blob's account in the first place. Having
had it he should certainly not have given it to anyone else.
What was that little modification Ryan1 made? Perhaps a change to blob's
.login file to create a new security hole so he could sneak back in
any time he wanted to. Grex does not need this kind of mischief going
on on its system. It sucks up staff time like mad. Is it blob's fault
that all this staff time is being spent on this? I would say not.
Rather I would lay the blame on Avi and Ryan, as they were the ones
hacking into someone else's account.
I would hope we could eliminate this mischief without eliminating the
mischief makers. That is the purpose of the discussion here.
If anyone thinks Grex is run like AOL in nearly any fashion, they must
be strangely deluded. AOL is going to court against the account hackers
on its system. It has won fines and someone even got a jail term.

If blob gave Ryan his account and passwd for some modification (and I have done
this for people. They freely give out passwords if you are going to help them)
then I don't even know if the two of them should be punished oir blob should
be severly beaten and given a helmet to wear. You never give out your password.
Even somebody like blob knows that. And he knew who avi and ryan were and that
tyhey were pissed at him, so he was just asking for trouble.

And a woman who goes around to bars in "bad neighborhoods" wearing
revealing clothing is "asking to be raped", right? Sorry, but I don't
subscribe to the "asking for trouble" defense. There is no excuse
for breaking into someone's account, regardless of what they've done
to you. If someone voluntarily gives you their password, you should
ignore it; if you're feeling nice, you should probably tell them that
they should never give out their password to others, and also tell
them to change it immediately.

I currently know the passwords for two other person's accounts. I was
given them because I've been helping them with setup, etc. One should
give and expect trust. (But then, we are talking about kids here, who
push and shove each other, and do other spiteful things.)

Boy, you are big into these comparisons that are nothing alike arn't you.
Come on, if somebpody gives you their passwd just ignore it and tell them
to change it immediately. Sounds ike something I learned at Catholic School.
'If you find a million dollars in untraceable bills, and you know that you wil
never get caught what do you do?"
ANSWER 'Yu turn them into the police and if they can't find who it belongs to,
then you give it all to orphanages because the money wasn't rightfully yours
in the first place.

Well, James, I'm sorry, but it seems to me that Marc's analogies are pretty
apt. So, if you invite someone in & he ties you up & vandalizes your house
you have no one but yourself to blame, & you deserve what you got? You
don't actually manage to say what's *wrong* with analogies like these; you
merely indicate that you don't care for the conclusion they point to.
