Conference Proposals Mark Unseen   Mar 15 15:18 UTC 1995

If you want to create a new conference, just ask and it will be created.
All you need to do is ask. No complicated proposals or voting are
needed.

Before you ask, you should do a "help conf" to see the list of
available conferences. Check the list to see if your conference
already exists, or if your conference could fit into another conference
that already exists.

The cfadm (that's a cryptic abbreviation for "conference administrator")
will wait a few days, for people to discuss your conference idea and
make suggestions. Then, if you still want the conference to be created,
the cfadm (currently John Remmers and me) will create the conference.

John Remmers suggested having a single item for conference proposals
rather than scattering the proposals around throughout the co-op
conference. Sounds OK to me! So this is The Place to put your
conference proposal. Though, if your conference proposal is going to
involve a lot of discussion, feel free to enter it as a separate item.

Actually, having a single conference proposal item is the way it was
done when Grex started out. The idea is that getting a new conference
isn't and shouldn't be a huge deal, so in general having one item for
suggesting new conferences should usually be sufficient.

A suggestion: If you have an idea for a new conference, first run the
"help conferences" command and look around to see if there's an
existing conference that meets the need. If you still feel that you'd
like a new conference, then propose it here.

Also, you might want to do a "help conferences" and see if the
conference, or something like it, already exists. ;)

Please see also item #25 under coop.
I wish to propose a conference on photography, in the hobby group.
thanks,

Fashion Photography? Artistic Photography? Pornographic Photography?
What *kind* are you talking about, or could it be ANY of the above?

It could cover almost any category. I think it should be in good taste and
could involve composition, technique, types of film, home & commercial
processing & printing, equipment. Possibly it could be a bulletin board for
contests and involve ideas on what to shoot, where, when, group shoots, etc.
If anyone had a special interest, such as Fashion Photography, we could all
learn from that person.

Okay, sounds cool to me! **OFFICIAL ENDORSMENT**

Thanks for the endorsement, Selena. Got a letter from John Remmers who is the
administrator responsible for creating new conferences. Sounds positive and
the subject will continue on coop for a few days discussion, then we may get
something going.

If there are no objections by tomorrow evening, then I suggest that if you
are then still interested, that you then request that it be created.

Might as well try it. I think it's a fine idea.

I would like to propose that a Laundry conference be established.
I feel that there is a serious and silly need to discuss laundry on this
machine in hopes of cleaner clothes.

I will volunteer to be one of the f-ws.

Thank you for your attention

Why, that's the silliest idea for a conference I've ever heard. :) :) :)

Hey, without having seen this item today, I just entered a testimonial
to my favorite laundry detergent in the consumer conference. Small world!

Ya know, laundry just might be sillier than accordions. :)

More people play laundering than they do accordioning.

So is there any more interest in a Laundry conf?

I can think of several topics that can be, yea, must be discussed.

I was thinking of asking remmers and mcpoz, to be co-fw's along with
myself, Being that mcpoz is/was a Laundry chemist.

The Laundry conference has been done. Not just done, it's a real jewel.
Are you sure you want to try and duplicate it here?

So I don't see the point of doing it again, myself. Of course,
perhaps the Grexian contingent will come up with something completely
different, but why not spend the energy on something different?
