Board Election Results
|
Jan 30 06:00 UTC 1995 |
The results of the Board of Directors election are as follows:
Valerie Mates (popcorn) 42
Steve Weiss (srw) 37
Steve Gibbard (scg) 22
Carl Miller (carl) 15
Rob Henderson (robh) 13
Kent Nassen (kentn) 10
TS Taylor (tsty) 8
As there were three vacancies, the winners are Valerie Mates, Steve
Weiss, and Steve Gibbard. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks
to all the candidates and the voters who participated.
52 out of 89 eligible voters cast ballots. 26 non-members cast
ballots, which of course were not counted.

Yes, congrats and thanks. I am looking forward to working with this new board.
Now someone needs to update the board and baff aliases, and
someone needs to coordinate scheduling a new board meeting.
Since I did schedule meetings before and was re-relected, I am willing to
continue to function as chair until we can meet and elect new officers for 95.
I will begin the process unless there are objections, as soon as
some staffer updates "board" so I can send email to the right people.

That's fine with me. It's consistent with past practice.

I updated the board and baff mail aliases (before I saw response #2,
no less), so please do schedule away!

Thanks to everybody who ran and everybody who voted. Because of the
tossed-out election and re-vote, it's been a *very* long election process.
I'm really glad it's finally over!

I am pleased that we are back "on track". Thanks to all the candidates
for standing for election. Because of the history of this election, I note
that 58% of the eligible voters voted, less than the prior quorum,
despite all the effort expressed here to "get out the vote". Grex is
now under the management of only the "most-interested" members, which
might not be the democratic ideal, but which is both practical and fair.

Congratulations to those fine individuals who won Board seats in the
January election!
Condolences to those who didn't win seats, but many thanks for giving
it a try.

Looks like the Steves are taking over, with 3/7 of the board being so named.
Maybe the first order of business for the new board is for the other 4 members
to change their names and become honorary Steves (Stephanies) :-)

I was thinking that we needed to recruit one more Steve for the next board
election, and then realized that STeve Andre' will hit the term limit
then. We'll have to recruit two more Steves for a majority.

Just great. Another two-party political system is born. Steves vs. Others.

Hey, for years when I've met new Grexers, I've told them my name is Steve.
(For some reason they never believe me.) Someone (scg?) recently gave me
permission to be an honorary Steve. That makes the board 4/7 Steves, so
we Stevely types can vote to change everybody else's name to Steve.

(and 3/7's are hams. but only 1/7 are the intersection of steve and
ham).

myself a few times. :-)
