Schedule for the September 1994 Board Meeting
|
Sep 14 05:10 UTC 1994 |
Some of you may have been wondering what's up with the
Cyberspace Communications Board meetings. Well, we have abandoned
our 2nd Tuesday meeting time due to multiple conflicts during the
fall academic term. Wednesday is now the best night of the week for this
purpose, but alas there are conflicts on all but the 4th Wednesday.
So we have decided to meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month, at least
through December. This means that the next meeting will be
September 28, 1994. A preference (albeit slight) was expressed for the 7PM
starting time, so plan on attending the next meeting 9/28 7PM at
Zingerman's Next Door (upstairs).
I will post a tentative agenda no later than the 21st in this item. Feel free
to make agenda suggestions either before or after it appears.

my two suggestions are joining the accounting aid society and
buying a stamp (so that i don't have to sign all the checks we
receive these days).

The September meeting of the Cyberspace Communications Board is scheduled to
take place on September 28th at 7:00 PM at Zingerman's Next Door (upstairs)
and, as always, the general public is invited.
Please note that this is the regularly scheduled meeting time,
according to our new fall schedule -
on the Fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 PM.
Tentative agenda for the 9/28/94 board of directors meeting:
0. Initializing gavel - srw - less than 1 minute
1. Treasurer's report - danr - 5 minutes
2. 501c3 Committee report - rcurl 5 minutes
3. Computer Rehabilitation committee - rcurl - 5 minutes
4. Publicity committee report - mta - 5 minutes
5. Hypertext committee - srw, carl, robh 5 minutes
6. Technical committee report - STeve and staff 30 minutes
7. Financial planning: how to spend our money,
budgeting and taxes, staff wishlist,
staff discretionary budget, rainy day fund 15 minutes
8. Reimbursing Greg Cronau for the ALM-II board 10 minutes
9. Dungeon Issues - poporn - 20 minutes
(Moving, Construction, Centrex, etc.)
a. Staff membership policy - srw 10 minutes
b. Grex Liabilities to Individuals 10 minutes
c. New business - 5 minutes
d. Terminating gavel - srw - less than 1 minute
I retired these two items:
* Additional Memory for Grex
* Request from MNAC for a closed conference
I cannot remember whether staff membership policy was resolved (item a).
If it was, someone say so, and I'll remove it from the agenda, too.
In item 8, I need a dollar amount so we can resolve this overdue
item and move on. I'm sure Greg has told me several times,
but I can't place it.
Please post other things that you think should be included.
Please come to the meeting.

When the agenda is longer, after you have item f, do you go on to 10 or to g?

I will add the JCC sale to the agenda, thanks.
I went to g last time, maybe I'll go to 10 this time.
But you'll have to add 2 more items or it'll be moot.

Nah, moot's not here, he's in Pittsburgh.
The Alm-II board was $200.00 plus 9.88 shipping&Cod. However, when we
installed the new drive, I bought the disk enclosure and SCSI cables, the
total came to $192.00 and I got a check from Cyberspace for $200.00.
So, I'm $8.00 ahead at this point. So, why don't we just call it an even
$200.00 and be done with it?

Sounds good to me. What does that work out to for your time, Greg?
Somthing like $.02 per hour? :-) Your able assistance is
much appreciated!

I'll delete it from the agenda.

Actually, Steve, no it wasn't approved. It was tabled until this month.
If you'll recall I sent you some private email on this subject.

Steve, please allow just a couple of minutes for a decision
on mousepads. On the walk today there seemed to be a feeling
we should order 30 even though only 10 have been pledged. I'd
think there should be approval for such money to be spent on
spec mousepads. ;-)

OK, Greg. That fits better with my memory. I reread your #8 response,
and it makes a lot better sense to me now. We paid you $200 for a $192
disk enclosure, so we still owe you $201.88 for a $209.88 ALM-II board.
And you will settle for $200.
I'll put it back on the agenda. I'll add a mousepad item too.

I tried to come to the meeting this evening. I left from the NEW
Center at about 6:45, and wandered downtown Ann Arbor (in my car), even
stopping to ask directions at one point. Yes, there are people who cannot
find Zingerman's, and I am one.
I told people I was going to check on how my hard-earned dollars are
being used, but that was a lie. I actually came as a spy from Arbornet,
intending to steal all the good ideas I could find. Craig Plesco also
intended to come, but work sprang up on him.
I even rearranged my work schedule to come; I normally work until
8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
What was most interesting to me was how I felt about it. Not
embarrassed or bewildered, but angry. How *dare* the city of Ann Arbor
hide one of it's most important landmarks, the meeting place of
Cyberspace, Inc.? (I hear they built a restaurant at the site... you guys
are really famous!)
Maybe I'll scout out the area, and actually make it next month's
meeting.

I missed it because I've been ignoring the MOTD, and didn't "remember"
until robh mentioned it 'round 9:45. By the time I got to Zing's, it
was much too late.
Sad to say I wasn't a spy. :(

Zingerman's is on Detroit Street, between Division and Kingsley, right
next door to Community High and across the street from Kerrytown. The NEW
Center is on North Main, between Depot Street and M-14.

I hope you can make it to the next meeting, jep. It's on Wednesday, Oct 26,
at 7PM. Even if the meeting is boring, the food is great.
I look forward to meeting you.
