Tentative agenda for the 11/16/94 board of directors meeting
|
Nov 11 04:06 UTC 1994 |
The November meeting of the Cyberspace Communications Board is scheduled to
take place on November 16th at 7:00 PM. Normally it is held at Zingerman's
Next Door (upstairs), but this time there is a conflist and we are still
for another site. If one can be found, the meeting will be held,
and, as always, the general public is invited.
Tentative agenda for the 11/16/94 board of directors meeting:
Initializing gavel - srw - less than 1 minute
1. Treasurer's report - danr - 5 minutes
2. 501c3 Committee report - rcurl 5 minutes
3. Computer Rehabilitation committee - rcurl - 5 minutes
4. Publicity committee report - mta - 5 minutes
5. JCC Sale committee - mta 5 minutes
6. Technical committee report - STeve and staff 30 minutes
7. Financial planning: how to spend our money,
budgeting and taxes, staff wishlist,
staff discretionary budget, rainy day fund 15 minutes
8. Dungeon Issues - poporn, steve, carl - 10 minutes
(Moving, Construction, Centrex, etc.)
9. Staff membership policy - srw 10 minutes
a. Grex Liabilities to Individuals 10 minutes
b. Reimburse Danr for a rubber stamp 5 minutes
c. Verification for Usenet use (new policy) 10 minutes
d. New phone line deal from Ameritech 10 minutes
e. New business - 5 minutes
Terminating gavel - srw - less than 1 minute
Since we had no meeting last month, this agenda is very similar to last months.
I retired the mousepad item, though.
Please post other things that you think should be included.
Please come to the meeting.

I'm guessing that the JCC item could be retired for a few months.
The next sale should be late March-ish.
Another small addition to the New Phone Line Deal item is that
the telco has changed the ISDN deal so that you don't need to get
Centrex to get a reasonable ISDN rate. This was only one of many
reasons for going to Centrex, so I don't think it changes our
plans any.

Why is the Publicity committee report on the agenda? I thought Misti said
she's not able to do anything, or attend meetings?

That may be changing, now that Misti has a working terminal
once again.

She does? Coolness!
About meeting space: I reached the ICC today to ask if we could
use/rent/borrow/whatever their meeting space on Hill street near
Washtenaw. They said someone else already has it for this Wednesday.
Then I called Amer's to ask about the rumored space in their basement.
They say we're welcome to use it, with the same terms as for the space
we use at Zingerman's next door: it's likely to be available, but
they won't reserve the space for us.
So I guess we're meeting at Amer's. If you're unfamiliar with it,
it's located on State St, between North University and Liberty.

OK, I deleted the JCC item. I had planned to, but forgot. Thanks.
Also thanks, Valerie for locating a venue for us.
Misti has resigned as Publicity chair. The item will serve to remind
us that we should arrange to find a new one.

I'd like to ask that an item to authorize the use of the name of Grex for
the placement of a dedicated Grex access terminal in a business
establishment in Ann Arbor, and to authorize [___________] to oversee its
installation and management, be placed on the agenda. (The machine will
be provided through the Computer Rehabilitation committee.)

Another agenda item for tonight's meeting: Grex representation at
Huron Valley Computer Network meeting.
This is the new incarnation of Huron Valley Freenet. They're having an
open meeting at the AA Public Library this Friday at 5 to talk about
what they're doing. Representatives of public service organizations
and other public access computer services in the area are specifically
invited. Just learned about this yesterday from one of the current
organizers. We may want to have representation there.

Neat! Definitely! Sounds like a much kinder, gentler, incarnation of
the HVFN.
Another agenda item: Staff got mail from an irate person who says another
person took out an account in his name and is harrassing him with it.
Do we nuke the other account? How do we know which person (or both) has
a real right to use the name? Blecch....

Ask for identification, I guess. Anonymity isn't guaranteed if you're
going to engage in shenanigans, is it?

I have added those two items to the agenda.
We have a very large agenda tonight, so it will be important to
start on time and avoid excessive rambling.
