The November board meeting (new date) Mark Unseen   Nov 5 02:01 UTC 1994

The Cyberspace Communications board has agreed to change the meeting date of
the November board meeting to be Wednesday, November 16. This means that
we are meeting one week earlier than usual, in deference to the Thanksgiving
holiday.

The meeting will be (as always) at 7PM at Zingerman's next door (upstairs).
I plan to post a tentative agenda for that meeting some time soon. Watch this
space.

Dave--haven't you read the Cyberspace bylaws? It says we have to
eat (I mean, meet) there.

Ummm, well, if you schedule that date, 16 Nov 94, there will
be a collision @zingies.nextdoor.upstairs with the WinSIG meeting
previously scheduled for the same time/date/place.

WinSIGs have been regularily held on the 3rd Wed for the past
several months ..... at least the surprise is before-the-fact .....

Wow! A collision between the Grex Board and a WinSig meeting.
It conjures up visions of the journey through colors near the
end of "2001", only better!

Can we coexist in opposite halves of the room?
I have no idea how big the SIG meeting is likely to be.

If there's going to be another group in the room, I think we should try
to find another place. On those occasions when there's been loud talking
elsewhere in the room during a meeting, I've found it to be extremely
distracting, and I have trouble hearing what's going on and making myself
heard.

Same here. I volunteer to make some phone calls to try to locate
an alternative location.

Another stupid quibble with #0: The meeting wasn't changed out of
*deference* to the Thanksgiving holiday, but rather because a lot of
board and staff members were busy because of the holiday. :)

You're on, Valerie. We're somewhat committed to the date at this point.

WinSIG of AACS has about 15-30 attendees and mostly fills teh room.

Two meetings in that space just won't work, it's a noisy room
by design.

thankxx all, good luck. Now I have a choice I have to make, darn.

re #8: will the Public Library be available?

response 12 of 13: Mark Unseen   Nov 8 02:43 UTC 1994

The meeting room in the Public Library generally has to be rented, for a
rather large amount of money. After the Ann Arbor Velo Club got tired of
paying for the Public Library meeting room we started using the downstairs
of Amer's on State Street. All they asked for this was that everybody buy
something. The food isn't quite Zingerman's, but neither are the prices.

I called the Inter-cooperative council and the People's Food Coop today.
The ICC person I reached said that the people who deal with room rentals
were out of the office at the moment. She said to try back later.
At the PFC I reached Jacque Menzel-Smith, the manager of the 4th avenue
store. They have some meeting space in the basement, which, since Grex
is a coop, we can use for free. However, something is already tentatively
scheduled to use that space on the 16th. He thinks that will fall through,
but he won't know until the 14th. We can't wait that long. So I'll call
the ICC again tomorrow. The PFC basement space would be worth remembering
for the future.

[Rane is probably going to point out that although it was the intention
of Grex's founders, we're not incorporated as a coop. I'll enter a
separate item to discuss this.]
