Grex Board Elections Coming Up - Make Nominations Here Mark Unseen   Oct 19 14:47 UTC 1994

Election time for the Cyberspace Communications Board of Directors
is coming up. There will be three vacancies to fill.

Details on eligibility to vote, eligibility to serve, terms of office,
and election procedures can be found in the Bylaws (Item 2 in the Coop
conference); here's a summary:

o Nominations are taken through November 15.
o The election is held via online vote from December 1 through
        December 15.
o An elected candidate takes office on January 1, for a two-year
        term.
o To be eligible to serve, you must be a member in good standing
who has paid at least 3 months' dues, you must maintain your
membership throughout your term of office, and you must be
able to attend the regular face-to-face meetings of the Board.
o To be eligible to vote, you must be a member in good standing
who has paid at least 3 months' dues.

The following Board members' terms expire at the end of this year:
Meg Geddes (meg), Mike Smerza (morel), Steve Weiss (srw). According
to the bylaws, a Board member must vacate the Board for one year
after serving two consecutive terms. Under this rule, Mike is not
eligible to run for re-election this year. Meg and Steve are eligible
to run for re-election to a second term.

The three candidates receiving the largest number of votes will be
elected.

The terms of Board members STeve Andre (steve), Rane Curl (rcurl),
John Remmers (remmers), and Dan Romanchik (danr) all have another
year to run, so these people shouldn't be nominated.

Please use this item to submit nominations. Before making a nomina-
tion, it is suggested that you check that the person is eligible and
willing to serve. Self-nomination is permitted.

I nominate me.

Incidentally, this is an interesting election because all those people
who have been on Grex's board since the first board was elected will
hit the sunset clause at the end of next year. They won't be allowed
to run for re-election for 1996. This means that the people we elect
in this election will be on the 1996 board, but those dawn-of-time
people won't. Because of this, these new electees are likely to have a
stronger-than-usual influence on Grex's future.

now that nominations have completed, it might be a good idea to recap
all who have been nominated. I'd do it myself, but I'd hate to be the
one to miss someone. :)
