Used cars - Bad Salesman Vote of the Day Mark Unseen   Aug 1 02:52 UTC 1995

I am trying to buy a used car. Today I called Sesi in Ypsilanti and their
salesman said he had a creampuff in my price range. I agreed to meet him
after 6:00 and look at it. When I got there, he said he didn't know if it
was around. I asked, "You mean it's been sold?" He replied, "No, I think
we took it to a shop to be cleaned up."

I asked him what he had in mind when we made the appointment. He replied
"Hey, someone of higher rank than me makes the decisions to get the car
cleaned." (He had my phone number). I told him I was angry that he made me
come there for nothing & I didn't think he was much of a salesperson if he
couldn't keep track of his appointments.

His reply: "Tough shit!" Needless to say, I complained to the manager who
seemed to be concerned.

Sesi has a good reputation, but I'll probably not go there for this purchase.

You should have had him take you to the shop and show it to you anyhow.
Good thing you complained to him and the manager though. Perhaps he'll
learn, perhaps not.

I am still looking for a car and the women salespersons are the most
professional.

Car dealers are also pros with a spray can, etc. One A^2 winter and you'll
find all the rust that was painted over.

I have been looking at the A^2 News adds also. I am trying to buy a small
to mid-sized car with a/c and full power with very low miles (1-owner). These
things are just not very common. It's for my daughter who will be out of
state and I don't want to take a chance with a good-but-hi mileage car.

Another possibility is Arbor Buick. I am still driving an '83 Buick
I bought there five years ago. If you can get them to a good price,
they are worth trying. They seem to sell off used cars below a certain
quality to other dealers. Whatever you buy there is probably reliable
unless problems snuck through their inspection.
