Well you got to loe seeing all of the trilogy on the big screen with the
added footage. Dark Horse also has lots of comics even redoing the moive books
to add the footage in the specil edition.

George Lucas says that much of the next Star Wars trilogy will be produced
using digital technology, allowing the films to be made for half the cost that
standard filmmaking techniques would require... And speaking of the next Star
Wars trilogy, James Earl Jones says that he will do the voice of Darth Vader
for the final moments of the film, although the voice will be done by the
actor playing Vader until the moment that he dons that famous black armor...

ugh, dark horse doing more star wars? I don't know about you, but dark empire
is oone of the worst pieces of sci fi that i"ve read.. and certainly the worst
star wars material out there. more of the sme makes my stomach churn. I
mean, they destoryed everything the rebels had faught for... making the movies
irrelevant.. and then one it all back again in the blink of an eye. it's
stupid, it isucked, and I refuse to recognize its effects on the star wars
universe.

The new movies are going to bre mighty nice, though. Georget finally gets
to add more of his own stuff to the universe, yand you know that he's not
going to put out a subpar product. Too bad it'll take so long to dub in the
digital effects.. but that's the price we have tp pay, I guess. that and
however inflation affects ticket prices..

I should point out that according to what information about anakin skywalker
we've been given, he wouldn't don the armor until midway through the second
film. the first film is aobut the clone wars.. anakin is still good and
skywalkery during then. It'll be the second fil,m , tentatively being calle
the Rise and Fall of Anakin Skywalker, that he'd battle obi-wan the first
time, nearly get killed, and have to put on the armor and more specifically
the mask.

If you may have noticed, they added elements to the specail edition from
Shadows of the Empire. Al of the Dark Horse comics get passed through lucas
film before being published with a stamp of aproval and they ARE officaly part
of the the real Star Wars story.

theoreticaly, but I dont' really have to believe what happpened in dark
empire. shadows of the empire was fine.. but dark empire totally lost
plausibility. wasn't even well scripted, much less plotted.

I get Shadows of the Empire and Dark Empire confused... which is which?

response 6 of 76: Mark Unseen   Mar 7 23:43 UTC 1997

dark empire is the first thing that dark horse did.. six hyears after return
of the jedi, and six months after heir to the empire. In a saga what was way
too short for what they were doing, they destroyed everything that had
happened in the previous movie and in heir to the empire. It was ludicrous..
they even brought boba fett back, and he had like two pages of comic relief.
it sucked.

Yeah, but what happened, I mean what was the plot of each?

response 8 of 76: Mark Unseen   Mar 12 21:14 UTC 1997

ok, Shadows of the Empire has to do with everything which happens in the
galaxy between the second and third movies. This was a plotby lucas to kind
of make a multimedia event in Star Wars in the forms of video games, cards,
comics, etc. Pretty lame iI think because Star Wars is supposed to accessible
to everybody as a family thing, and something like that just sort of makes
Star Wars seem so merchandised.

Thanks Ben, but what was Dark Empire about?

hey dave, you know who could answer that question? Dagny Hanner. I think she
was collecting some the issues for a while . I'm not sure if she has all o
fthem tho.

Dagney was in comics? I did not know that. Well, she's not here now, so we
can't ask her. Maybe you could convince her to open an account here on grex
just so she can answer this question... Or maybe not. (Now, I'm being the wise
ass)

six years after the destruction of death star *II, several months after heir
to the empire/darkforce rising/last command ends, the rebellion has been
driven back off coruscant. they are no longer the new republic, they're the
rebellion again, and they're staging hit and run strikes angainst he empire
with two stolen sstar destroyers. There's a new secret leader of the empire
consolitdatin forces, though, and they're fighting a losing battle. luke gets
taken by a mysterious force and leaves everyone else to wonder where he's
gone. Meanwhile, world devvestators, which suck up matter from planets and
eventually convert itnto weapons are ravaging mon calamari. Ackbar rather
cornicly.. actually, totally cornily.. calls them far wrs worse than the death
star (how? it blows planets away.. these things tear up the surface, and take
their bloody time doing it, too). Luke goes over the deark side, therefore
nullifying everything accomplished in return..a s the empoeror is *still
alive* but eventually breaks free with leia's help as the empreror's new 10
mile super star destoryer is swallowed up by a force storm, killing the
emperor (again). if you think my explanation was hard to flollow, try reading
the series. it sucked.

I just saw the new Jedi yesterday. The didn't reall add much except for the
Jabba scene with the band (added backup singers) and the end scene with the
fireworks (pretty lame actualy). I excepted more.

That's more than they did for Empire. By the time Jedi came out, Lucas had
created most of the technology needed to do a proper job on the movie.
That's how he really wanted Star Wars to look.

I didn't want any more.. it was god enough. I loved it, actually.. that space
battle scene still gives me chills. It was terrific. too bad they didn't
blot out the ewoks...

I read (in some Star Wars page) that in the new, soon to be released, trilogy
that Anakin Skywalker runs around with his pants around his ankles for one
scene. Because he supposedly, "Feels the force." Sounds pretty weird huh?

Ok. This just in. I got this info. from some hacker who is a little too
obsesed with Star Wars. Supposedly, sometime after the new trilogy, there will
be a new episode called, "The bloody Empire." There will be scenes that are,
well, a bit on the ADULT side. There will be incest scenes with Leia and Luke.
Han and Chewie will grow strang and effectionate feelings for each other. And
there will be loads O blood.

Considering the last 2 responses, I apologize for my comment.

Does anybody think the extra scenes for the last 2 films of were worth it?
Star Wars had sone real additions to it, while the other 2 movies had
cosmetic changes at best.

yes, actually, slight cosmetic touches are nice, particularly matte cleanup
s in jedi. the ones on cloud city really helped out, I thought.
