Lame comic people..just read it ok? Mark Unseen   Jul 14 20:27 UTC 1996

OK, there are a lot of incredibly lame comic characters out there here is
a good place to name them as any so if you can think of any particular
character that is incredibly useless: make an entry but you must give a good
reason for wanting to see him dead ( being a Marvel character is not a good
enough reason to kill someone ok? ) well i think this will be a fun item.

okay, my first choice (if you want to hear it) is a marvel character, but it
isn't just because I dislike Marvel. It is the Spider-Clone. Ugh, this has
got to be the stupidest idea in comics. I mean what were they thinking, "okay,
lets take the most popular character and make so all his ghistory is a lie"
plus that fact that the clone WAS KILLED. It seems like everything that made
spiderman good is being taken away. let reveiw, his parents came back from
the dead, they made Mary Jane smoke, they turned peter's parnets agianst spidy
then only to have them be robots, Aunt May is dead, then they made spiuderman
a clone. Am I wrong here or does it sound a little too stupid to you.
okay, lets get a non-marvel character. I think all of the Extreme characters
suck. Their only cheap copy of other characters anyways. Lady Death is one
of those stupid hormone overload characters. Although I have never read Lady
Death, I don't like basing a comic solely of breasts.
I could come up with others, but the characters I don't like, I don't read.

wow! we agree again biohazr..

my first choise is Namor the Sub-Mariner.. he's dumb. i know of no one that
reads him.. He had an affair with Sue Richards (The Invisible Woman) and now
that Reed (Mr.Fantastic) is back.. i do believe he will deal with Namor
possibly even kill him.. we can only hope..

response 3 of 35: Mark Unseen   Jul 22 04:15 UTC 1996

Yeah, Namor has gone to the dogs, but in days of old, the Sub-Mariner was best
comic out there next to Kirby's Captain America. I also liked it when they
brought him back in the silver age in Fantastic Four. Althought I did not like
the story, I think that Namor never LOOKED his best than when he was drawn
by Jae Lee. Of course, I didn't like it when somebody else inked Jae's
pencils, but you get the point. As for Reed killing him, heh, fat chance. I
don't know how they have been writing him lately, but the Reed I knew and read
wouldn't kill anybody.
Another character that I think should die (for real) is Superman. It's not
that I have something against Superman, it just that both his creators (Jerry
Siegel and Joe Shuster) have died. Also, Superman has been around for 58 years
now, how many more stories can you have of Superman beating another villian?
I think that when they killed Superman and brought him back, it cheated the
readers. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Well.. there's a 'new` Reed Richards out there now.. he was missing and
presumed dead for i think 3 years or so.. now he's back and changed a bit
Sue Storm is now leading the team..

I agree on your Superman thing.. he really does serve no purpose.. he has so
many powers and is so strong that there are few guys left that could give him
a somewhat difficult battle.. i guess maybe he should have stayed dead..
you can give him long hair and an interesting personal life but does he really
need that many monthly titles? the same with spider-man he's only one
character i think he should only have one book.. team books are different,
for example, X-Men and Uncanny X-Men these titles have a reason for existing
different characters in each but the spider-man and superman thing i find
ridiculous

oops.. that should be sue richards.. ps batman has too many titles as well
biohazar
response 6 of 35: Mark Unseen   Jul 24 08:10 UTC 1996

yeah, batman has too many titles, but he's got more purpose then DC character
I know.I do like the idea of the Legends of Batman. You get to see all these
elseworld batmans by different creators. Of course, I don't read the book,
but the concept sounds cool.
Okay, my next choice for the killing parade is (I know you are going to
hate me for this Luke, but live with it) Wolverine. I remember I time when
Chris Claremont use to write X-Men. The characters where developed (and not
just breasts) and almost mythical. Back in the days, Wolverine was mysterious
and cool. Now, they have fucked with his past, added the memory chips, taken
his adamatium out, made him a mindless beast... what else have they done with
him? He is just not the same character that he used to be. In fact, I don't
think anybody at Marvel knows who old Logan is anymore.

i didn't say batman should be killed.. he has many good stories left in him..
i'm sure however I have never been a big Wolverine fan

I know for a fact that they'll never kill off wolverine.. but i think that
returning him to the mysterious and cool attitude would be an excellant idea..
i was not aware that the X-Men were more than breasts.. heh

Doh! I don't know why I haven't thought about it before. Lets kill all the
symbiotes. I'm talking about Vemon, Carnage, and all their offspring. I am
sick of these slimey overused creaters. Okay, before I start bitching even
more, let me explain. When SSecret Wars gave spidy a new costume, I thought
it was the collest since sliced bread. I loved the black and white costume.
I even loved Web of Spider-Man #1 where he losses the costume. Frankly the
whole idea was cool. Even when they brought Vemon in the picture, I liked the
fact the there was this villian that spidy couldn't sense and really could
be a chalenge. But it was when they gave him his own comic and when they made
carange and the other sybiotes. Now there is at least 20 of them running
around and even some in 2099. This is another victim over overuse.

response 9 of 35: Mark Unseen   Sep 7 23:14 UTC 1996

hmm.. i don't mind Venom if he's not just used to sell an issue of a dumb
comic. Carnage is just nuts. as for the Planet of the Symbiotes.. Get rid of
it. Keep Venom and *maybe* Carnage.. the others can go to Archie Comics or
something.. i dunno :)

he's has always enoyed the hell out of me. story...somebody does a crime,
punisher kills them.

Kill punisher. good.

response 12 of 35: Mark Unseen   Sep 22 05:58 UTC 1996

okay, here we go... It's a untold Onslaught story where professer X make Frank
Castle go into a world in his mind. In this world there is two Punishers. Each
of them trys to kill the other because killing people is against the law.
Finaly, one of them kills the other which kills them both, leaving Frank brain
dead. End of story.
pez
response 13 of 35: Mark Unseen   Sep 22 15:45 UTC 1996

you mean Frank had a brain to begin with?!
I kinda liked Nick Fury. Punisher killed him. down with punisher.
bio
response 14 of 35: Mark Unseen   Sep 30 06:36 UTC 1996

Hahaha... Anyways I think that Nick was past his due anyways (not that he was
one that need to be single out for killing), but he hasn't been the same since
the war days.
Next... Archie. What, hasn't he been in high school since the 30's? This
is wrose then the Charlie Brown syndrome. At least every five years the
Peanuts change a grade.
Next... Avengelyne, Rob Liefeld bad girl. Need I say more?
Next... Allegra. Why? Becauseshe just sucks. No story, bad art.
Next... Anything done by Saban. ie Power Rangers, Beetleborg, etc.
Next... Cable/X-Man. Over used. It wasn't that good of a charater to start
with. He was created by Rob Liefeld afterall.
Next... The Crow... no wait, he's already dead (haha, sorry I couldn't help
myself. No really, I love the Crow)
Next... Any Disney character. I'll explain later.
Next... Elektra. Not because her character sucks, but because she suppostr
to be dead because of a contract with Frank Miller.
Next... Grifter. Just because he's anoying as hell since he left WildCATS.
He turned into a good to shoes with and tape recorder in his head.-
Next... Kid Supreme. As if Supreme wasn't enoiugh as a really bad hack of
Superman with an ego. Do we really need a kid sidekick?
Next... The entire cast of Tribe. There's a reason why the first issue from
Image can't sell in the $0.25 bin.
Next... Vamperotica. Not only is it a REALLY bad hack of Vamperilla, it
is nothing but a preverted sex comic with no story and bad art.
That's all for now... more later.

well.. the damn spider-clone storyline has ended. it turned out that the
spider-clone really was the spider-clone and peter parker really was peter
parker. serious concepts here... the way they killed off the spider-clone was
lame though.. they killed off a character that died 20 years ago (the clone)
by bringing back a character that died 23 years ago (Norman Osboen, the Green
Goblin) why did they have to bring him back?! stupid move.. i think spidey
killed him so he won't return for a few years again.. ugh.

marvel did release a '101 ways to end the clone saga' comi, but it was
probably worse ideas than the one they used... oh well..

The whole Spider-Clone story was the biggest flop of the decade (maybe even
in the whole history of comics, but I'm not going that far). Ever since Todd
McFarlane started the Amazing Spiderman there has been more and more interest
in the Spiderman comics. Marvel startes putting top artist on their books and
their sales went up. But when Marvel started the clone story... blam down they
went. There you go for a company run by stockholders that haven't even read
a comic before. I'd like to add that Image has no stocks...
I'd like to add the most of Acclaim's characters suck. Not even the resent
relauch will help their hopelessness.

okay, here's my take on the whole clone story. Jackel cloned Norman Osborn.
Peter Parker killed the spidey clone way back in #150. Jackel made a clone
of the clone creating Ben Reilly. Osborn become the Green Goblin again and
kills Ben Reilly. Jackel is dead, but he has a clone sitting around somewhere
controling everything. Peter killed Osborn because he knew Osborn was a clone,
just like he killed the first clone in #150. Now Peter can kill Osborn but
will have trouble with Trapster because he's out of practise. Boy this clone
stuff is crap!

anyone notice that rob was so taken with cable that when he want er went back
to captain america cable did some guesting? What a shock :) Rob didn't
really have much of a hand in creating the character, the authort even gave
a rough sketch of what he was supposed to look like. Thank god. I dont' know
what cable's been up to since he's been dead, though.

That's the nice thing about marvel... you don't just suppose that they might
bring back dead people, you know they will. Anyone who dies will be back
within a few uyears. If you ask me, they should have left magneto burned up
in the atmosphere after X-Men #1. That was wehen the X-Men universe of things
reset, to a point, and this whole mess with Stryfe and Magneto again and the
virus got started.

If marvel *does* go out of business like I"m fervently hoping, they can
finally tie EVERYTHING up. People who die stay dead. The X-Men achieve their
dream, people tie up all their personal ends, spiderman dies in one last
heroic battle. I can always hope, cna't I?

Talking about Rob, I heard today that Marvel fired Rob Liefeld from the
Avengers and Captain America due to poor sales. I found this out after
reading "Rob Liefeld returns to the (Pittsburgh) Comicon this year, in the
midst of his success with the Heroes Reborn storyline..." I'd love to see
Rob at the con after reading that. (Rob just digs that hole a little deeper
each time I think he's hit bottom.)

I have also heard that rumor too, although I don't think it's true since They
were suppost to kick him off on issue #3. As much as I'd like it to happen,
it's a rumor started by people like us who hate Rob Lifeld.

Dave, why did I come here? If the storylines are that bad, then why aren't
you guys writing? I also don't follow comics too well, so all this talk about
twisting the DC/Marvel universe is over my head.

I'm writting comics... nothing is in print yet, but it will be in two weeks.
That's when my anthology book, Assorted Meats, is coming out and I'm one of
the writers. Yes, it's a small fanxine, but it's a starting point.
