FREE QUASAR VCR and CP-290 X10 Controller - for repair or parts.

FREE Quasar 5480 VCR (1988) - for repair or parts. It stopped turning on
by remote or button - probably the power supply.
FREE CP-290 X-10 controller - for repair or parts. It stopped
working...etc.

If you donate it to Kiwanis it will probably go in the dumpster. If you take
it apart into components you can recycle the steel, trash the plastic, and
we can take anything with copper and eventually recycle it for you. Jim might
enjoy playing with the X10 controller and if he fixes it he would return it.

I can't donate these items to any place that expects to sell donations.
I should have mentioned that the X-10 controller is programmable (ifit
is fixed), so it executes scheduled commands without being connected to
a computer. There are apps still available for programming it via a
serial connection.
I've converted to a new programmable controller, but the CP-290 was
better, as it had more oomph.

Kiwanis (we and our neighbor) used to fix VCRs but there are now so many
working ones donated and so few selling nobody bothers. DVD players may still
get repaired. Jim would have fun looking at the X-10 controller. We may be
visiting a friend in your end of town some Tuesday and could pick it up.
Please recycle the VCR yourself - it only takes 10 min or so with a
screwdriver and some metal snips.

I might end up fixing it if I opened it. I have another working anyway.
Call ahead is you want to pick up the X-10 controller - I screen calls
if I'm home so the AM will answer first.
