Wanted wordprocessor with floppy drive Mark Unseen   Mar 24 03:26 UTC 2004

Does anyone have a non-Smith-Corona wordprocessor that takes normal 3.5"
floppy disks that they want to get rid of for $10?

I traded mine for an Amiga 1000, an external Amiga disk drive, and two
boxes full of games.

EBay has several wordprocessors in the complete items which did not even get
the starting bid of $5, and shipping is another $10. Has anyone used the
'Dreamwriter 325'?

THanks for the warning. I ran across a Panasonic for $20 which takes 3.5"
floppy disks, at eBay. Separate printer. I don't know if a floppy -disk
model is allowed. It is for use at a prison where computers are NOT allowed
and maybe they are afraid someone will smuggle in a game or somethingon floppy
disk.

They said 'wordprocessor'. Some of those had monitors and floppy disks, you
just could not change the software.

Jim found one with a large screen and a floppy disk and built-in printer,
black, looks like a large laptop computer, needs an external plug-in power
supply and ribbon cartridge but appears to work. However both keyboard and
screen are Japanese. Anyone have a use for it? I have offered it to Kiwanis,
where there are power supplies and ribbons.

He found it while putting out my recycling, just before the truck got to it.
I cannot imagine what my neighbor had it for.

Thanks, and we would need to charge for a power supply and they would need
to get a ribbon. And pay postage.

We are not trying to make money with this, just get it to someone who can use
it. Kiwanis might take it as a curiosity. I may call the Japanese language
department.
