The University Musical Society will perform Handel's "Messiah"
this Saturday and Sunday , December 7 and 8, at 8 PM on
Sat., and 2 PM on Sun. Tickets are available at the UMS box office.
This promises to be a memorable pair of performances.

This might be of limited use to most of you, but I'll give it a mention in
case anybody is from my neck of the woods. At Queen's University in Belfast,
Northern Ireland (where I am currently studying) we hold an annual festival
of contemporary music, called Sonorities. This year, we have recieved extra
funding due to special efforts made over the years, and have been able to go
all out in organising a really special festival. This year, highlights include
visits from the composer Jonathan Harvey, the percussionist Jonny Axelsson,
and the London Sinfonietta. There will be pieces by composers like Xenakis,
Harvey, Nancarrow, Birtwistle, Messiaen and many more. It is an excellent
chance to get acquainted with some of the best contemporary music played by
some of the best players, so if you are within a short plane-journey of
Belfast, it is worthwhile coming along. The festival runs from the 27th April
to the 5th May, and you can get further information by ringing the School of

Dear Friends:
I will be singing with Measure For Measure, Ann Arbor's 80 member male
chorus, at our annual spring concert at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor on
Sunday, May 16, @ 4 p.m.. This our 10th Anniversary concert and we are
excited to be singing at the world renowned Hill Auditorium on the
University of Michigan central campus. I hope you can join us for the
concert.

you.Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and students.

Here is some more information about the concert:
The anniversary season repertoire includes reprises of audience and
group favorites from each of the past seasons, such as The Lost Chord,
Waitin' for the Dawn of Peace, Michigan Morn, Joshua, Hava Nageela, The
Last Words of David, and of course Biebl's Ave Maria. The concert will
also feature exciting new pieces such as the American folk song Cindy
and the Welsh folk song Lisa Lan.
The concert will also be a send off for the Measure For Measure
appearance at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod from July
8-11 as the beginning of a 10 day, 6 concert tour through Wales and
England. Included in the Hill concert are the competition pieces for the
festival, Domine non sum Dignus, Praise Him, and Listen to the Lambs.
Ara Berberian Guest Soloist - Mr. Berberian appeared for 20 consecutive
seasons with the Metropolitan Opera Company and has performed with major
opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout the world. He was a
member of the U of M Men's Glee Club and Novelaires Quartet (with M4M
President Dick Frank).
Ann Arbor Youth Chorale Featured Young Singers - The 100 children of the
Ann Arbor Youth Chorale appear in two choirs. Each choir represents a
different level of vocal ability and experience. Choir members range in
age from nine to fourteen and are from many racial, economic and
religious backgrounds. The choir exists to artistically enrich the lives
of children, their families and the community.

The Ann Arbor Summer Symphony's first program of the season will be performed
on Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 PM at Huron High School's Auditorium and
Sunday, June 25 at 3:00 PM at EMU's Pease Auditorium. The pieces
performed in this program are:
Mendelssohn - The Hebrides Overture
Ravel - Mother Goose Suite
Beethoven - Symphony No. 3, "Eroica"
Look for me in the horn section!

The Ann Arbor Summer Symphony will be performing Schumann's 3rd Symphony
(Rhenish) and Brahms's Violin Concerto (Daniel Foster, Violin) this Thursday,
July 12, 8 PM at Huron High School and this Sunday, July 15, 3 PM at EMU's
Pease Auditorium. Admission is free. Hope you can make it!

my presence in this conference (and on grex in general) has become very rare,
but since I'm on now I'd thought I'd give a little plug for the u-m composers'
forum concert happening this monday at 8 pm in the britton recital hall at
the school of music. admission is free. the program is entirely works by
u-m student composers. I will have a set of three songs for soprano and piano
on the program (which are actually 3 out of a projected series of 5). this
is the first time I've submitted anything to the forum, and is possibly the
last unless I submit something else in april, because I may be dropping out
of the music school.
