Bonneville

Does anyone know how to see the speed runs at the Bonneville flats?  I plan
to be in that area this Fall and would like to stop in and watch some speed
record runs.  Can you just drive to the site, park your car, and observe? 
Do you need tickets?  Where exactly do you have to go to see the vehicles
run?, etc.
