Susan Vreeland. There is no Vermeer painting "Girl in Hyacinth Blue", but
the story assumes such a painting and traces its history through
generations.

I would think that Vreeland would base her novel on a fictitious Vermeer
so she would  not be limited by facts about any real Vermeer. (Vermeer
is my favorite artist.)

one of the best books i've ever read was I am The Cheese. kinda creepy though.

really? whats success stories about. I mean Im guessing its success stories,

I should probably read some Russell Banks.  Two of my favorite movies of
recent years -- "The Sweet Hereafter" and "Affliction" -- were based on
his novels.
