Where have all the TV game shows gone?

The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy seem to be the only
game shows left on the broadcast stations according to my examination
of the Ann Arbor News TV Book. This goes for the Lansing, Toledo, and
Detroit markets. There seem are a few other miscellaneous game shows.
I found Family Feud in Toledo but not Detroit or Lansing. Do Love
Connection and People's Court count as game shows?
Have some game shows been preempted this week because of the Winter
Olympics? I remember seeing Classic Concentration on the tube fairly
recently. But when I was in elementary school, I remember being sick in
bed and watching hours of game shows all morning.
When an ad comes on and proclaims that "Price is Right is still number one!"
(I saw this ad recently) are they really saying that they're the number
one and the only daytime game show?
Are Oprah knock-offs a good substitute for game shows? How would you
compare Oprah knock-offs to the game shows they seem to have replaced?
Are there game shows on cable that used to be on the broadcast channels?
Feel free to respond with observations about game shows in general or
remembrances of your favorite departed game shows.

There are a ton of game shows on cable, the USA Network in particular.
Actually, I was thinking much the same thing when buzzing through
the channels a while ago, and instead of game shows, there were talk shows.
Things change, I guess.

However many of the ones on the USA Network are reruns of old game shows.
"Family Feud" was on at 11 p.m. on 62 or 20 a while back.
What I miss most, though is "Match Game".

I find the tabloid shows alot more amusing than I found most game shows.
Especially now that there are usually three competing tabloid at any
given time -- usually one of them is interesting and maybe even informative.

Hm...very long time since anyone posted in here <grin> Yeah, I'm still young
(16), but I remember the days of watching game shows like Card Sharks, Sale
of the Century, Scrabble, Press Your Luck, Classic Concentration, Hollywood
Squares, etc...Now all that's on are mainly stupid talk shows which have
topics like "He slept with her, and she slept with his best friends..blah
blah"...yippie, like americans need to know who sleeps with who! I want my
game shows damnit!

Ah yes, "Press Your Luck" was a collegiate fave... People walking around the
dorm, saying "Big Bucks! No Whammy!" all the time. :)
