Autumn has been used in movies with often stunning visual
reward. How many can we recall?

The autumn footage of a lake in "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" is
quite impressive.

The beginning of the film version of James's _The Americans_ (or was
it _The Europeans_?) has some stunning New England autumn scenes.
There's a carriage pulling up in front of a black-shuttered white
house, with orange and red and yellow maples in front of it.

I've not seen "The Europeans", that's a Merchant and Ivory film, right?
I'll need to look into renting it soon although a 21 inch screen
is probably not what the directors had in mind.

Yes, it's the Merchant Ivory film. I think you'd like it, Mary.

Michael, "The Europeans" was quite good. The entire film is set in
one season, autumn, which was filmed beautifully. The choice of season
highlighted quite nicely the view of a past-useful, dying culture, making
way for change. Or maybe I'm reaching. Anyhow, I liked the film.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Didn't "Dead Poets Society" have some great shots of the school Robin
Williams "taught" in during the fall?

which appeared on the Disney Channel and Wonderworks. Price Edward Island
has great scenery

I'm not sure what the seasons were in Rob Roy, but the Scottish Highlands
at any time are incredible to see.
