Love and War, searching for.

I was trying to search for a movie which i think is called "Love and 
War", i saw years back ( about 8 years). The story is somewhat like 
this :

The hero and the heroine are kids in a european country before WW-II. 
The war strikes and they are seperated only to meet at the end of it. 
But the heroine has by now caught some disease and dies ( sigh ).

The movie is actually a true story of the producer or the director of 
the movie or so it said at the end of the movie.

Now i wanted the names of the actors in the movie and wanted to see it 
again. So if anyone can confirm the name of the movie, i'll be really 
thankful.
