Can't recall having ever lost any luggage on a plane, but an airline 
once lost my sister's dog.  She put the dog in one of those pet 
containers, and it flew up in the luggage area (dog was too big to get 
carried on)  Anyway the plane landed at the airport, and there was no 
dog.  At first they claimed the dog/container was never loaded on the 
plane, but later it came out that the airport luggage people forgot 
where the dog was supposed to de-plane and the dog stayed on the plane 
to the next stop.  Had to catch another later plane back.  The dog was 
terrified by the time he got there.
