Should cross be on staff?
|
Nov 3 21:12 UTC 2003 |
Here're some exerts of cross (aka tenser) in M-Net party:
"tenser: I'm not worried about getting things working.
tenser: What I *am* worried about is getting the rest of grex's
staff convinced to do it a different way."
Note how he'd rather play politics than actually get things working.
"tenser: It's a big issue; Marcus carries a lot of weight with
staff.
tenser: Marcus likes to do things his way.
tenser: However, Marcus has been MIA for a long while now, which
is why there's an opportunity to replace things
tenser: That's why I see now as a real opportunity. ...[He]
carries too much weight with staff."
I don't see why he should be on staff, if he's plotting to replace one
of Grex's greatest active staff members.
"tenser: We don't *need* guidance, we need persuation."
He's yet again bringing un-Grex-like attitudes to, of all places, Grex.
"<tenser:tenser wishes Mermaid would disappear so he could talk to
jp2 in peace.>"
I'll admit this is only tangentially related to his duties as staff,
but note how rude he is to a gentlelady who did nothing disruptive.
Also note how jp2's again involved in some form or another of
scandalry.
"tenser: The technical issues are non-issues; I know how to do it
right
tenser: The big issue, though, is convincing everyone else to do
it right."
Does that sound like something a team-player would say?
"tenser: I'm not convinced that's the way to go, but I do know
grex as it currently stands is a real mess."
Do you REALLY think that about YOUR community? I think the only mess
here is that tenser was ever allowed to become part of staff.

I see nothing wrong with tenser's comments. Every organization needs some
abrasion. He is still just one vote among many, and may indeed get people
to think about things rather than just go along with the founders or the
"team-players" (if everyone is a "team-player" it is not likely that new
*original* ideas will arise, since they almost always arise in
contention).

We have nothing to go by with your statement that mermaid was not being a
pest. And that statement was not rude, it was a wish. Like , I wish polytarp
would act his age. Not rude at all.
I don't see any conspiracy. If there was, I know Dan is smart enough to cover
his tracks, rather than talk about it openly on mnet

Smart people don't do bad things, mynxcat, and anyone can verify that mermaid
wasn't doing anything bad just by looking at the logs.

The funniest part about #7 is the image of someone trying to swing a
fire axe in the Pumpkin.

I don't think marcus has anything to worry about as he also has talent
as well.

Cross was elected to be an admin, not be a team-player.
He was also elected according to procedure. If you want him out, use
procedure, not potentially libellous gossip.
When was hte last time a sycophant impproved the lot of his
constituents?

I didn't know there was an "election" to get cross on staff. Was it a
staff election.
