the Dream Job Mark Unseen   Mar 7 19:08 UTC 1998

If you could be put in charge of any one thing, what would it be? Your word
would be law as far as that one thing went, and you would be well-payed for
your efforts. "Doing Nothing" doesn't count.

I wanna be in charge of billboards, myself.
Or possibly my own radio station.

I would do what ever I damn well pleased, and get a job on the side so I
wouldn't get bored. I would learn how to be a grex staffer too. <g>
Be afraid....

If font was Grex staff & with unlimited funds, I can just imagine the
byzantine CGI interface & accordions that would race across our screens.
Think Marquis De Sade listening to the Monkeys on the exquiste chromatic
accordion while watching Max Ernest re-animated so he can do anime.

Hey, raven, did I ever tell you about Pauline Olivieros' microtonal accrodion?
Apparently, she's disassembled a perfectly innocent accordion, re-fitted it
with new reeds, and created a twisted and demonic creation that plays all
sorts of demented scales. There's a web page, but I don't know the URL off
the top of my head.

Hmmm I'm intriqued, do you have any recordings of the noises generated by
this beast? BTW I'm pretty sure that Pauline Olivieros is a second
generation 20th centuary rad composer.

No, I only have the vague memory of the web page...
here, gimme a minute and I'll shell out to lynx and try to find it...

Well, I couldn't find the original page I was looking for, but check out
www.goddard.edu/wgdr/kalvos/oliviero.html

That's oliviero, not olivieros.

i want to be in charge of gravity.
orinoco
response 11 of 25: Mark Unseen   Mar 20 03:51 UTC 1998

You could have some fun with that, I guess.

If you've got gravity, could I have entropy?

raven
response 12 of 25: Mark Unseen   Mar 20 06:24 UTC 1998

Hey entropy is my turf, ask fontly if you don't believe me. Perhaps we shall
give you a job mopping up quarks if you are nice & grovel in the correct
manner.

Aw, poop.

No, that was not a request for a domain of power.

Don't even try it.

There has been a Pauline Oliveros recording which I have been curious about
for years, in which she recorded inside some sort of giant water
cistern for the echo effect.
