To be continued? The aaypsi conference? Anyone out there?

Should this conference be continued, revised, reformed, or revivified?

How about restarted, reformatted, etc.?

My experience with restarting seemingly dead conferences is that the restart
kills all the old archival material, without creating anything new to get
people interested. It seems to work rather well to start entering items, and
start pushing the conference aggressively.

Keep it going. Periodically it regains a new life and I check it each time
I log onto Agora. I think an item that deals with local issues is almost a
public service. Otherwise, how owuld I know what was going on in the South
east or Northwest?

Some advice needed. A conference on single parenting problems and
solutions and sources of help and everyday coping. This would
involve broad issues but also be directed to creating awareness
in the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti area. Would it be better off here or in
Agora? There is a single-parent organization here that needs
some help to survive. Their mission is to provide real help
to people struggling with children, jobs, money, and life without
a two-parent family. They also work hard to counsel both
parents to work together. In fact that is one of their primary
missions. They have the support of the local Friend of the Court
but funding from their main source is running out and help is
needed. Suggestions? Is this something Grexer's want to talk
about?

Agora usually gives max exposure and discussion; sounds like a good pick.
You can ask for the item to be linked to other conferences, so people could
see it in aa/ypsi and in agora. Probably most Grexers won't want to talk
about it, but that's true of all items; you'll reach some who are interested,
and those who aren't can forget it.

Agora is for ephemeral stuff - or to advertise less ephemeral stuff.
Single parenting sounds serious enough that it would attract those
interested to a (semi) permanent conference. But, did you mean an
*item*, in any case? I'd suggest starting it here, and advertise it
(Announcement) in agora. Personally, I dislike all the linking to
agora that is done. People do it to attract attention, of course, but
the result is another "tragedy of the commons" - the bloat of agora.
The major conferencing activity *should* be out here in the many
permanent conferences, not all jammed into one ephemeral one (but we
haven't figured out how to attain that desirable goal).

I think stuff on single parenting would go well in the Smalls conference.
Single parenting certainly isn't a small job, but it involves doing a big job
for small people.

Both good suggestions, rcurl and scg. I'll dwell on it for a little
while and make a snap decision. I guess I better look at "Smalls"
first, though.

Have been sampling the "Smalls" conf. It looks like the logical
home for the single-parent-coping item. I am afraid if I suggested
this for Agora I might be forever branded as a "bloater". Of course,
I do love the sea and the wind . . . .

Agora is temporary. Someone might want to like the item to agora, but
let them if they will.
